Here's your homework for Monday:
1. I've put the researched project assignment in the 1302sII folder in Google Docs, and I'd like you to read it. Post here and write a summary of it. What is it asking you to do? What questions do you have about it? It's not your typical research project assignment, so it may take reading a couple of times:).
2. I'd like you to generate some keywords to use in your database research for your research question. If you haven't revised your research question to really reflect what your interest is yet, you might find choosing appropriate keywords difficult. For instance, some of you have questions that are still pretty general (How can I become a better writer?) and using "writing" as a keyword will get you millions of hits, so it's not useful as a sole keyword. You'd need to combine it with other things:). Hopefully, you'll learn about this from "Research 101," but we'll all be available to help you when and if you hit roadblocks. I want you to write about what your research question is and what keywords you're using here on the blog (in the "Research Questions & Keywords" post) so you can help one another, learn from what's working or not for others, and I can help more than one of you at a time who might have similar questions/problems.
3. Start your database research and try to locate at least 3 articles/books/book chapters that look promising for your question. Post those on the blog under "First Sources--8/1/11."

ReplyDeleteOur first step is to create a reseach question related to reading/writing/researching/learning. Then as we choose our question we identify a construct, which will help us brainstorm about our question. We then create a plan of inquiry, which consists of "keywords" "misconceptions" "sources" etc..
ReplyDeleteAs we finish our plan of inquiry, it is time to do our final research project, which includes "a thing" and "reflective essay."
This is a great guidline to follow, and refer back to.
Our assignment is revolved around the evolved question regarding learning, writing, reading or researching. We develop the question that helps us identify constructs that constitutes a good writer, reader, etc... Finally, we will discuss a plan of inquiry to help us revise previous thoughts and contructs about issues we wrote about earlier. This involves making making lists with keywords that will guide us into making a final writing product that may be more like a reflective essay.
ReplyDeleteOur researched project assignment takes us step by step on what we should be focusing on when it comes to our research papers. We are given a plan of inquiry where we would have to state our construct, (mis)conception, sources, purpose, audience, and a few other areas of interest. After we receive feedback on our plan of inquiry, we are ready to move onto our final research project. Our research project consists of a "thing" (rhetoric message), and a reflective essay that ties in most of our ideas from the plan of inquiry.
ReplyDeleteThe research project that has been given to us is to use what we have learned from Downs and Wardle book into our project. We learned the significance on how to read and write developing questions to argue about. Learning how to construct was a process we will be using to guide us through our questions we are researching. The plan of inquiry is to help better our revisions of our ideas and opinions about what we are writing. Lastly, the reflective essay will depend on the resources being used and how you analyzed everything. Explain reasons why you chose to research the question you felt most discussing about and how it's important.
ReplyDeleteThe project is explained in a step by step basis. First we have make a plan of inquiry and state our constructs, purposes, thoughts, and any other ideas that relate. From there we will receive some feedback regarding the work we have done so far and we will begin to work on our final research project. The final project has a rhetoric message and a reflective essay that relates back to out thoughts and ideas from our original plan of inquiry.
ReplyDeleteThe research project has been planned in a step by step basis like Alex stated. Through our readings we have learned to many new things which will help us in developing a question. We will have to state our constructs and gather our ideas and thoughts. Then we will receive feedback from you, Dr. J, and our classmates as well. When we are far in we will begin to work on our final project.
